What’s going on world, been a long time since you heard from your boy. I appreciate everybody who has been questioning me about my next post. Life been a little busy for me, but I’m back like I left something!! Told people I had stuff on deck and I plan to come with it to finish off the year strong.
(Clears throat) Now that I’ve gotten that out the way back to the money. Given the season we are in and the festivities that normally occur during this time, the title of this post is very suiting. Halloween season is upon us, I’m sure all the supporters are geared up and ready to go. Masks, costumes, etc, the one time of the year where wearing ANYTHING is accepted. I must admit I do enjoy costume watching during this time of year, always very eye entertaining. I was asked ” What was I going to be this year?” Jokingly I replied ‘myself’ and the person gave me the straight face. I later thought about it and realize I put on some type of mask or costume everyday.
That moment of small talk got my gears grinding. I really took a look into the concept of people wearing different masks to make it through everyday life. Ironically enough I was on instagram a couple weeks back and seen a friend posted something about masks them becoming a part of who of the person. I completely agree the mask becomes a part of you. As a person you become engulfed with the created persona that you can lose sight of yourself. We all were masks for different reasons, some wear masks to fit in and others to stand out. Which mask do you wear? Do you throw on a professional mask? Maybe a social mask depending on the friends? Think about who you are and who you become, are you losing any part of yourself?
A mask can be used as a way to hide something, be accepted or even ignored. Understand that masks are created both knowingly and unknowingly as a form of defense. Everybody can’t see the real you, so a mask is created to allow one to maintain in their situation. If your still wondering if this even applies, think about every facet of life. Do you add something, subtract anything? If so view that as your mask. A mask can also give your strength to overcome a situation.
One of the most interesting superheroes to me is Superman. Superman was naturally great but his alter ego was Clark Kent. In other words he transformed into somebody to blend in; whereas other superheroes transformed to become great. A common theme amongst most superheroes is they can’t balance their alter ego with the normal person. How does that relate, remember when you wear a mask too long it will become a part of you. Sometimes we as people tend to hide things from the world that may actually inspire the world. Other times display a certain image or wear a certain mask that is detrimental to our own well being. Figure out which mask your wearing, what are you really trying to camouflage? Wear your mask don’t let your mask wear you.
