Hey new world, your man Handy is back in full affect. Like me and my ace boon coon would say, I’m back like I never left baaabbaaayyy!!!!! I’m speaking for both of us when I say we will make a more concerted effort to bang out these blogs more often. How we have been doing lately this year has been unacceptable!! I take full responsibility for that and promise that I will do better!! Now that the pleasantries are out the way, lets get to the meat of the blog.

Dream Big and Stay Humble!!! Now when you see this, most people will say that this is obvious, but I mean something deeper than what you may think.

In the bible it states, (more…)

A famous quote from the movie Training Day came from Ethan Hawke who played Officer Jake Hoyt. While having a convo with fellow Officer Alonzo Harris played by Denzel Washington and a drug dealer named Roger, he says “It’s all about smiles and cries. Yeah. You gotta control your smiles and cries, because thats all you have and nobody can take that away from you.” Now at that moment he was making reference to figuring out the streets, but after further thought, I feel like that could be applied to other aspects of life. It’s very true that you must learn to sometimes hide your feelings and release them when you feel as though the timing is appropriate. But what I am seeing and learning more and more nowadays is that sometimes it isn’t a good thing to always hide or control your smiles and cries. That its cool to release those feelings, because those same feelings might be the death of you if left unnoticed.

What’s good world?? So my co-blogger has been genuinely killing me on the blog tip lately, so I have to step my game up. With that being said… Yeaaaa it’s crunch time baabaay!!! Haha but the topic of discussion for today will be taking risks and how it goes both ways in the dynamic of the male-female relationship. If you are not willing to take risks, how can you ask for risks to be taken on yourself? Or another question to be asked can be are risks worth being taken from either side? I feel these two questions are some of the most important when a man is interested in a woman and vice versa. Lets delve into this issue a little deeper.

“Can we talk for a minute, girl I want to know your name”…  came on last night, and I began to sing along with Tevin Campbell.  The song always catches my ears, no matter when I hear it.  As I was singing along, I realized why I like it so much.  Essentially it sets the tone for the conversation for the lady of interest, as well as gets her attention in a noticeable way.   More so, the phrase is a conversation starter with anybody.  ‘Can we talk’ has transformed into slogan to sit down and communicate.  Depending on the tone and inflection of one’s words that can lead to a positive or negative sit down.  Essentially communication is key to growth and survival, and over the past few days  my co blogger and I have dissected the way people communicate.  If wondering why; well as black men we have many goals, none more important than surviving.

Survival can best be defined as the struggle to remain alive and living.  For the purpose of this post, I view survival in a sense of over coming obstacles to get to the next level.   Communication is a major obstacle that civilizations struggle to overcome .  Today it seems with all the creative ways to communicate, we continue to lack even more when it comes to effectively communicating.   In order to understand how to communicate with one another, one must fully understand and comprehend the meaning of communication.  After looking up the definition I came across this: the imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs.  What does it all mean, basically to share thoughts from one to another.  The definition seems pretty simple, the act of communicating also seems simple as well.   However, the human race continues to struggle with the concept of communication, and that intrigues me to a point where I have to investigate.
