Good world, what’s going on? This is your man Handy back on it with another blog for the masses. Black History Month for 2014 have not necessarily been the best for me, but there is always March around the corner haha!!! But let’s end off the month right by making sure we hit a Black History topic all of us can relate. Nigga, nigga, nigga, nigga!!! My nigga, your nigga, everyone a nigga!!! (In my Katt Williams voice) Say it with me one time!!!!! Let me take time to all my NIGGAS in the world.

Sounds like I’m out of control right now. Sounds like I am trying to offend some people right? Being a black man in America, do you now give me a pass? Is it now okay for me to just throw the word everywhere and anywhere. If I were a middle aged white man, would you be outraged and angered? Would you want my blog taken down from the Internet? If I were a young Spanish woman, would you be confused on how to feel? Would you be indifferent about me using the word? These are all different questions that we as a society ask ourselves when referencing the use of the N word.

Hey new world, your man Handy is back in full affect. Like me and my ace boon coon would say, I’m back like I never left baaabbaaayyy!!!!! I’m speaking for both of us when I say we will make a more concerted effort to bang out these blogs more often. How we have been doing lately this year has been unacceptable!! I take full responsibility for that and promise that I will do better!! Now that the pleasantries are out the way, lets get to the meat of the blog.

Dream Big and Stay Humble!!! Now when you see this, most people will say that this is obvious, but I mean something deeper than what you may think.

In the bible it states, (more…)

I wanted to do something a little different, this is not my typical post; but still along with my natural thought process.  Instead of me writing a lengthy post about this subject, I took the exact lyrics from a rapper I listen to.  Lupe Fiasco has been on the rap scene for sometime, and tends to make very thought-provoking songs.  He  has a new song entitled “b*%!h bad,”  that could be very controversial.  It definitely goes against the normal mindset of the popular rapper.  I have taken the liberty of supplying everyone with the lyrics to the song.

[Intro]
Yeah
I say b*%!h bad, woman good, lady better
Hey, hey, hey, hey

[Verse 1]
Now imagine there’s a shawty, maybe five maybe four
Ridin’ ’round with his mama listening to the radio
And a song comes on and a not far off from being born
Doesn’t know the difference between right and wrong
Now I ain’t trying to make it too complex
But let’s just say shawty has an undeveloped context
About the perception of women these days
His mama sings along and this what she says
“N*#&@s I’m a bad b*%!h , and I’m bad b*%!h
far above average”
And maybe other rhyming words like cabbage and savage
And baby carriage and other things that match it
Couple of things that are happenin’ here
First he’s relatin’ the word “b*%!h ” with his mama, comma
And because she’s relatin’ to herself, his most important source of help,
And mental health, he may skew respect for dishonor (more…)

What happened to our rap music? What happened to the balance? What happened to the lyrics? I was watching the MTV Hottest Hip Hop MC’s Part 7 and they were giving their lists of hottest MC’s at the moment. I did not have a problem with the list, it was pretty much right more or less, but there was a particular segment where they compared Meek Mill’s buzz right now  how DMX’s buzz was back in the day when he was first releasing his record. Now that particular assessment isn’t that far-fetched except for one thing, Meek Mill is nothing like how DMX was! I mean don’t get me wrong Meek Mill can spit, he gives you street music, but that’s so watered down and tampered now what is really street music? What is really considered that grimy, street music that when you hear it, you can feel the pain in the artist’s voice? Do you really get that feel when you hear I’m A Boss or House Party? Those are two of his hit singles right now. DMX’s first two singles were Ruff Ryders Anthem and Get at Me Dog. Both of these were street anthems, but you can tell from the titles that these songs were geared toward different audiences. I guess they were coming from two different situations when they made their singles, thus the far contrast. But I guarantee that if you sat down and looked at the lyrics on paper, it would not even be a close match. …KEEP READING!

Torrence Hatch was sentenced to 8 years in federal prison today.  Who is Hatch you maybe asking to yourself??? Well he is best known under the names of LIL Boosie, Boosie boo, Boosie bad ass, and probably a bunch of other aliases. Lil Boosie is a very well-known rapper to many hood and not so hood people everywhere, who raps about the normal things as far drugs, guns, sex, sex with guns, murder murder, kill kill. Many of his lyrics are pretty lack luster and far from thought-provoking, but hey all the baby thugs of America seem to love him.  For those who have not gotten arrested or been on the run and failed to turn on Lil Boosie while making your illegal transactions, you may not know he is currently in prison for having  a  Hit placed or getting some one  murdered. He ordered someone to be KILT  and has been serving time since the summer of 2010. WELLLL, he is up for the death penalty; but he is officially locked up on a four year bid for moving heavy weight.  While in jail, he got busted for smuggling drugs into the prison.  (Still scratching my head on that and how that could EVER happen.) So essentially a rapper who raps about murder is in the process of receiving the death penalty for committing a murder. (how ironic) He  talks vividly about drug selling, was locked up for his great distribution skills… Some how managed to get re-locked up for selling drugs in prison. Sounds like a man who loves prison, hope he wasn’t smuggling those drugs the hard way. Glad to see some rappers still keep it real with themselves and the fans who cherish them… Next time you do something shady pop in boosie and see how much he inspires you
